DESPERATION

 THE ACT OF DESPERATION

INTRODUCTION

Desperation is extremely defined by high expectations that eventually risk one in doing something that ought not to have happened, but because you are too desperate, you act out of line. Everyone has great tastes, but desperation kills, especially if you are not careful with the drastic decisions you take due to an unfair despair you might get towards life.

Annie was a beautiful university girl, a 400-level student of the Faculty of Law, the only child of an advocate, Barr Anderson (a human activist), and one who condemned evil and gave justice. Her parents love her so much and always tried by all means to provide for her even though the economy was severely damaged and has affected a lot of families in so many financial ways, but Annie’s parents were trying their best to make sure she lives a comfortable life, but yet Annie in question wasn’t helping anywhere. She loves a luxurious lifestyle, and she always wanted to get whatever she wanted with or without her parents. Her desperation for money was risk-taking and could affect her life choices someday.

One Saturday morning Annie was sitting on the couch when, immediately, she got a call from her friend who is in the same league with her. Of course, I won’t forget to say this: they are the big girls on campus, and they make sure they live a classic life that doesn’t concern them whether it is risky, good or bad; they just want to have it all as it pleases them. She picks up the call. “Hello, pretty, What's up! There’s a party in town tonight, and all the big boys will be there, which you know what that means. So we will be needing all the requirements so as not to miss any of the guys, babes? I’m really ready to cash out tonight, and nothing will stop me, girlie.’ Annie cut the call and was so happy about the update that she rushed in to change to something good so she could go do some shopping as always. She drove her Tesla Model 2 2023 car to the best shopping mall in town to select her wares at Dunes Centre. She packed her car and walked straight to the mall. Immediately as she passed the security checkpoint, she met this cute-looking young man hopping out of the mall. “ Hi pretty, can I have your little time? I’m Pat! You look beautiful, I must confess! And without wasting your time, can I have your number so I can call you!!’’ Annie replied to the gentle guy with her name and exchanged contacts, and she left to continue what brought her there. She did her shopping and headed back home to prepare for her dollar night party.

Annie was so excited about the event happening and had made all the necessary preparations for the party. At about 6:00 pm her phone rang, and she rushed to pick it up, hoping it was one of her friends, but it was an unknown caller. She picked up the call, and it was Pat. They spoke and exchanged words, but she didn’t want anything to disrupt her night, so she hastened the call, and that was it…. ‘Bye, talk to you later!!

She hung up the call and went to continue with her stuff. It was exactly 10:00pm when her friend called her to confirm if she was ready to leave for the venue; she replied ‘yes’, and she left.

The party is set, and all the big boys and big girls are all seated with face masks, drinks, food, smoke and all sorts of stuff needed for fun were there. She drove in with her friends, and all eyes were on them because they were looking so adorable and classic, which added a tone of colour to the party and their face masks that show a smile of beauty. They ushered them to the VIP guests' table, and each of them had a different partner, and the fun started. The DJ played the best music that got everyone dancing, and the boys started spraying different currencies of money mint; the party was indeed top-notch. They ate, drank, smoked and did all sorts of acts; the party elapsed and everyone had dispatched, but Annie and her friends were so soipsy they didn't even know what they came for. The boys were so happy that it was just the twelve (12) of them and their guards that were left in the building. The boys' guards helped and took the six (6) girls inside, and their mission was accomplished. They were not just unfamiliar but dangerous drug traffickers that deal in human parts for money laundering, which means that the drinks and food were all poisoned with a strong Brexanolone injection, which led them to dose up without realising anything. The girls were unconscious for 24 hours; the men had planned to travel with them the next day, but nobody noticed anything; even the gateman was too naive to notice. Annie’s phone rang almost the whole night because her parents made sure they called her almost ten (10) times a day, and they didn’t hear from her that night before they went to bed, which she hadn’t skipped any of their calls before, so that got them so worried! They called twenty (20) times the next day, yet there was no answer, and immediately they knew something was wrong. They tried to call her friends, but none of their lines were connecting, which urged them to drive to her school, which might also waste a little time because of distance. Annie’s home-to-school drive is six (6) hours, so Annie’s father had to put a call through with the DPO in Abuja Regional Headquarters, and a missing case was filed right away. Annie’s father was a popular man, and everyone knew him, and due to his personality and charisma, the police call was fastened ASAP without delay…. Meanwhile, the kidnappers had already left the town because their journey was easy with the private jet they used.

The investigation wasn’t going to be easy for the police to find the hostages and the kidnappers. Her parents arrive at her house, where they ask the gateman some questions and have no clue, only that he opened the gate for her at about 10:00pm and she opted out. And besides, how will he possibly know? He was minding his business and doing his job as a gatekeeper. He explained all this to them, and Annie’s parents felt bad that after the discipline and cultured life they gave their daughter, she still kept going to night clubs….

Desperation lured her into making quick money because she’s not content with what she has, despite the fact that her parents still supply all that she needs as a daughter, but because her expectation is viable and has trapped her into a risky situation that can’t be undone. Before Annie and her friends woke up to realise where they were, it was already too late. The men that kidnapped them sold them out to some ritualist that deals in human parts, but as God would have it, her phone location was on, so the police tracked it and made it easy to locate where they were taken to… But before they could come for their rescue, her five (5) friends were already butchered, and some police officers managed to get there before they could kill Annie, so they conveyed the building where they were carrying out their evil deeds. Before they realised what was going on, all of them were arrested, and Annie was saved.

Causes of desperation that kills one’s life

1. Greed: This comes with a lack of contentment; when one is not satisfied with the little he/she has, it can trigger a desperate act hopelessly and recklessly. Desperation happens when you think you can’t achieve what’s best for you or what your friends have, thereby making you unhappy and undervalued, which can cause so much greed that it can lead to an unnecessary condition.

2. Loss of hope : This effect happens when you feel you have lost control of your sanity and that strategic plan that was supposed to make your life better and easier but yet is not working for you, and everything isn’t responding correctly and adequately, which can make you feel uncomfortable and unbalanced, which may result in acting out of desperation to resolve underlying problems.

3. Negative burst : the easiest way to be desperate is to believe that you are negative and you don’t impact life or growth for others, making you see less of yourself, creating in your mind that you can’t achieve anything better except failure, whereby it will lure you to desperation of taking drastic control of actions.

4. Financial crisis: This is the worst problem anyone can undergo, which can affect their thoughts, spirit and body, making them financially unhappy because they feel they can’t afford or help themselves in any meaningful manner, which perhaps can lead to desperation in acting recklessly.

5. Health issues: this can cause so much stress and depression in people who have medical issues because they can’t deal with their state of mind, making them have a lot of anxiety that feels like they have no control of their own life and can cause desperation towards harmful, reckless choices based on their health challenges.

The way you lived influenced the results, which entails the most dreaded decisions one can take if you fail to understand and prepare yourself by avoiding over-explaining your problems that seem impossible. Never rush and pressure yourself into thinking or doing things that might highlight your weaknesses or demonstrate that insight, which can project and infuse desperation to change that perception.

Summary

You must be professional to present yourself with a well-structured way of dealing with challenges that are natural to occur and never extend your urges in getting whatever you need at all costs without first researching and offering positive values that will lead to success rather than over-rushing. Focused and motivated self-confidence that brings value to others rather than hoping for people’s lives because they are doing well and yours isn’t working… By so doing, you commit a terrible amount of failure that can lead you to frustration and regret. The act of desperation has caused so many to enter unhealthy marriages, relationships, businesses, jobs, money and lots more, but when you understand and feel strong enough to foster life, you will never take the chance to be desperate.
